2023 PhD winter workshop in critical technology studies

Convened with Ned Cooper, Zoe Horn, and Libby Young.

Held in July 2023, as a satellite event to the 2023 ADM+S Symposium at the University of Sydney Law School, the workshop helped bring to life a network of 40 interdisciplinary PhD researchers conducting critical studies of technologies. Official website here.

2022 Innovative methods for critical studies of emerging technologies: a workshop for mid-stage PhD candidates

Convened with Linda Przhedetsky, Lorenn Ruster.

Held at the Australian National University in September 2022, the workshop brought together 25 PhD candidates from across Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand for two days of collaboration and discussion of research designs for the critical study of emerging technologies. The Cultural Impact of Impact project studies how research impact is conceptualised and operationalised through comparative case studies of research cultures in the US, UK, and Australia, with a special focus on emerging researching cultures within the field of AI.
